Molly has a strong love for music which was obvious during her first music therapy session when she smiled instantly after noticing the piano and guitar in the room. She was referred for music therapy by her mum as she used to have sessions at school and her mum remembered how much she loved and responded to the sessions. She began music therapy with Brooke in November 2023.
Molly has a diagnosis of Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome (PTHS) which means that she lives with significant learning difficulties and developmental delay, causing her to find it very difficult to communicate her needs in her daily life. Despite this, she is able to make it clear in music therapy when she is enjoying a particular style of music/instrument or not using facial expressions and gestures.
