Music therapy referrals are reviewed within the practice. Clients are then matched with the most appropriate therapist based on clinical need and availability.
Sessions may be delivered by Brooke or by an associate music therapist working within the same clinical framework.
All music therapists are trained at master's level, HCPC-registered and engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
All enquiries are received directly through the practice and reviewed by Brooke. Basic information is gathered in line with GDPR to understand presenting needs and determine suitability for music therapy.
A referral and consent form is completed to gather relevant background information, including presenting needs, goals for therapy, and any relevant medical or educational context.
3. Therapist Allocation
Either Brooke, or a suitable music therapist, is allocated to the client and introductions are made. The allocated therapist will lead the sessions and remain the primary contact for day-to-day therapeutic work.
The allocated therapist arranges assessment session with the client.
The assessment session includes:
a discussion between the referrer and the therapist to explore music therapy outcomes and discuss client's needs in more depth.
observing the client in their usual environment, such as home, school or care setting.
practical music therapy assessment.
Following assessment, the therapist can provide a report detailing music therapy outcomes identified in the assessment.
The therapist begins delivering sessions. The therapist becomes the primary practitioner for ongoing therapeutic work, within the wider clinical oversight of the practice.
Ongoing evaluation is carried out by the therapist to consider progress, goals, and ongoing suitability of therapy.
For quality assurance purposes, Music Therapy with Brooke maintains ongoing oversight of therapeutic work through check-ins with the client/referrer.
